ISLAMABAD: Pakistan team’s push-ups – their unprecedented style of celebration after beating the England at Lords during a recent series – has drawn irk of lawmakers from the National Assembly.
The NA standing committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination objected to press-ups performed by the Pakistan team players after victory and even sked ‘whom did the players were giving message with those push-ups.”
Rana Muhammad Afzal of the NA committee raised quite an unusual objection, saying players did push-ups after the triumph and remained silent after the defeat. “What’s actually the matter,” he asked.
Pakistan Cricket Board official Najam Sethi also said it would have been better had the players offered ‘nafil prayers’ rather than doing push-ups.
He said the PCB had stopped players from performing push-ups post any victory.
